Gallery Steel gives you a carriage house style with grooved short or long panels, made fully from steel. There are no overlays to attach. It comes in 1, 2 or 3 layers, so you can choose a basic door for a shed-style garage or a well-insulated door for one attached to your home.
With 16 colors, including wood-look and matte metallic finishes, it can match anything from a brick ranch to a newer build. Is Gallery Steel Right for Your Home?
- You want a carriage house look on a tighter budget. The non-insulated 1-layer version is the more affordable way in.
- You want a dark or modern color. Lustra black, charcoal and silver matte finishes are offered on some models.
- Your attached garage needs to hold heat. The 3-layer door with 2-inch Intellicore reaches R-18.4, and its tongue-and-groove joints help block wind and blowing snow.
- You want a low-care door. Ultra-Grain wood-look finishes give a wood tone without real wood upkeep.
- If you want raised trim boards and a deeper, layered carriage house look, the Clopay Coachman adds a composite overlay on top of the steel.
Design Options
Choose short or long grooved panels, then decide on a solid top or windows. You can pick plain, grilled, arched or wrought iron styles, and double-door top sections are also offered. Colors range from standard white and almond to Ultra-Grain oak finishes and Lustra matte shades. Spade handles and step plates come standard, and you can add strap hinges, a ring knocker or colonial and spear hardware.
At the estimate we’ll help you compare layer counts, since 18-inch sections are only offered on 3-layer doors.

Yes. The 1- and 2-layer versions give you the carriage house look at a lower cost, which makes sense for a detached garage you don’t heat. If the garage is attached, most Ohio owners are happier with the 3-layer insulated version.
Lustra is a matte finish offered in black, charcoal and silver. It gives a flat, modern look instead of gloss. Not every color is available on every model, so we check what your chosen build allows at the estimate.
Ultra-Grain is a wood-grain look printed on painted steel, not real wood. It doesn’t need staining or sealing. The steel under it is galvanized and has a baked-on primer and top coat to help fight rust.
