Thomas Shreve owned the original town site, and the village that carries his name is in the southeast part of Clinton Township, down in Wayne County's southwestern corner. The 2020 census counted 1,497 residents. The Wayne County Public Library keeps a branch here.
Shreve skews young: at the 2010 count, 36.7% of its 608 households had children at home and the median age was only 35.5, with 688 housing units in all. Family schedules are hard on a garage door. If yours gives out, phone us for same-day service on most calls, often within 1 hour in Shreve. We're available 24/7.

Near the marsh, galvanized steel outlasts wood. Our installers hang Wayne Dalton, Amarr and Clopay doors and fit LiftMaster or Chamberlain openers; door installation, opener installation.
Shreve is drained by Shreve Creek, a tributary of Killbuck Creek, and the Killbuck Marsh, known locally as Shreve Swamp, lies just outside the village limits in the Killbuck Creek watershed. Killbuck Creek itself, a tributary of the Walhonding River, is named for the Lenape war chief Bemino, known to white settlers as John Killbuck Sr., and the U.S. Board on Geographic Names settled on its present spelling in 1963.
The village grew quickly after 1870, from 479 people that year to 908 in 1880 and 1,012 in 1890, and it reached 1,617 in 1960. Its houses span that whole stretch, so garages range from narrow older ones to attached doors on newer homes, and we carry parts for both.

Between the creek and the marsh, damp air is a fact of life in Shreve. It rusts spring coils and hinge pins, swells wooden doors and glues rubber seals to the slab on frosty mornings.
An annual rust-and-balance visit scrubs off corrosion, lubricates the moving parts and resets spring tension before winter.
Clinton Township, which surrounds the village, had 3,165 residents in 2020 and is one of seven Clinton Townships in Ohio. It occupies the southwestern corner of Wayne County, bordering Holmes County to the southwest and Ashland County's Lake and Mohican townships to the west and northwest.

Galvanized springs and hardware, a tight bottom seal and a yearly lube go a long way, and we replace rusted parts before they break.
