Eaton Township covers a stretch of eastern Lorain County between North Ridgeville to the north, Columbia Township to the east and the village of Grafton to the south. The township had 5,828 residents at the 2020 census, and 1,155 of them lived in Eaton Estates, the census-designated community at its center. Ohio has no second Eaton Township.

Eaton Township once reached farther than it does today. A small corner of Elyria in the northwest and most of the village of Grafton to the south both sit on land that used to be Eaton's. What remains centers on Eaton Estates, bounded on the north partly by State Route 82 and on the west by State Route 83, with the hamlet of Eaton to its northwest and unincorporated North Eaton to its east. Land in Eaton Estates drains to Willow Creek, a tributary of the Black River.
At the 2000 census, Eaton Estates counted 470 housing units, and 60.5% of its households were married couples. In a family household a garage door can cycle many times a day, and busy doors wear through springs and opener parts faster than quiet ones. If your door has been cycling for twenty years, a check-up can spot a tired spring before it breaks.
With creeks draining toward the Black River, low ground here can stay wet, and so can garage floors. Water climbs into the bottom panel, eats at the cable anchors and softens the wood jambs.
Orange streaks at the lower corners or whiskers of broken wire on a cable are early warnings. We renew anchors, cables and seals, and check everything else during a maintenance visit.
Midview High School stands in Eaton Township just north of Grafton. It opened in 1955 after the Eaton Local, Grafton Local, Grafton Village and East Carlisle Local districts consolidated in 1953, and the class of 1956 was its first to graduate. The teams are the Middies, in blue and silver, and they have played in the Southwestern Conference since 2015. Students can take College Credit Plus classes through Lorain County Community College, and Funky Winkerbean creator Tom Batiuk is an alumnus.
State Route 82 crosses the township and meets State Route 83, Avon-Belden Road, in Eaton on its way east toward Strongsville. A short unsigned connector, Route 83C, links Route 83 with State Route 10 in Eaton Township and North Ridgeville.

Eaton Estates is a census-designated community in the center of the township. We cover it and every other part of Eaton Township.
Most often the safety sensors near the floor are out of line or blocked, or the close limit needs adjusting. We check both, along with the track and rollers.
Sometimes the bottom section can be replaced by itself. If rust has spread, a new door usually costs less over time.
