Tucked into Jackson Township in Ashland County, Polk has been on the map since the 1840s. It was laid out in 1849, and a post office called Polk has operated since 1846. At the 2020 census, 310 people lived here.
A village of a few hundred people deserves the same fast, careful work as a big suburb, and that's what Polk gets from us.

Polk has stayed about the same size for well over a century. The census counted 335 people in 1880 and 310 in 2020, with a high of 435 in 1970. In 2010 there were 136 housing units in the village, spread over roughly 660 acres.
That means many homes here have stood for a long time, and their garages have had many owners and many repairs. The village had 129 households in 2010, and about a third of them had children under 18. A busy family can run the garage door many times a day, and every trip wears on the springs. If your garage was built after the house, its opening and headroom may not match standard door sizes. Taking measurements comes first, so whatever we hang in that opening fits it.
Polk sits on high ground, about 1,266 feet above sea level. Ashland County winters bring snow, ice and deep cold, and doors on unheated garages feel every bit of it.

As long as it’s a sectional overhead door, yes. Farm shops and barns often have wide, heavy doors, so we size the springs to the door’s real weight.
