Monroeville is a Huron County village of 1,300 people (2020), laid out in 1817 under the name Monroe in honor of James Monroe, the fifth President. Postal authorities later changed the name to its current form, and the village incorporated in 1868. Across the county line to the north lies North Monroeville, an unincorporated community in Erie County.
Its 2010 census count was 528 households in 577 housing units, with 40.0% raising children and a median age of just 34.5; exactly half of households were married couples. When a garage door in one of those busy households breaks, phone us for same-day service on most calls, often within 1 hour from a Proactive technician.

Replacement doors come from Amarr, Clopay or Wayne Dalton (how installs go), with a Chamberlain or LiftMaster opener to finish (opener info).
Monroeville keeps several 19th-century landmarks. The octagonal brick John Hosford House dates from about 1856-1862, and the Seth Brown House was built in 1813. The Hosford house is a true octagon of brick with two windows on each side, a veranda facing the street and a belvedere on the roof; merchant John Hosford also built a fanning mill in the village in 1870. Zion Episcopal Church, built in 1861 in the Carpenter Gothic style that is unusual for the region, has a single tall tower with a louvered belfry and a steeple; the village's first Episcopal families began meeting in 1843. All three were listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 3, 1974.
The village has held close to the same size since before the Civil War, with 1,257 people in 1860, 1,185 in 1920 and 1,455 in 1970. Most garages here are detached or attached single and double doors, many with original springs, and we repair and replace them regularly.

Winter wind comes down from the lake across level farm ground, and Monroeville's older springs lose tension and snap on the coldest days. Keep ice off the bottom seal before using the opener.
A yearly door check keeps things balanced and safe.
Monroeville lies close to the center of Ridgefield Township, organized in 1815 and home to 2,197 people in 2020; part of Norwalk also reaches into the township's eastern edge. Because of the lay of the land and the routes early settlers followed, the township's roads follow no particular pattern, and U.S. Route 20 and State Routes 18, 61, 99, 113 and 547 all cross it.
Newspaper publisher and editor Ethlyn T. Clough, basketball coach Steve Moore and wrestler Logan Stieber all came from Monroeville.

It does. Erie County addresses just north of the village are covered the same as the Huron County side.
Certainly. Springs, cables and rollers are hand work, and an opener can follow once an electrician adds an outlet.
