Mayfield Township was organized in 1819, split off from Chagrin Township, and the village dates its founding to that year. When the township dissolved in 1920, its land became several villages, this one included, and five years later Mayfield Heights separated from Mayfield Village.
Mayfield itself stayed small: 344 people in 1930, 805 in 1950. Then it jumped to 1,977 in 1960 and 3,548 in 1970, and it has held roughly steady since. There were 1,497 housing units in 2020, only 5.1% of them empty, and more than half of households (54.5%) are married couples. About 28% of residents claim Italian ancestry, and Russian, Italian and Hungarian are spoken at home along with English.

Often it’s the springs. A door that isn’t balanced makes the opener work too hard. We check balance first and fix the springs before touching the opener.
