Commercial garage door work for a business in Sandusky.
Huron is an Erie County city at the mouth of the Huron River on Lake Erie, near Sandusky, with 6,922 residents at the 2020 census. Its 3,110 households filled 3,847 housing units, only 1.3% of owner homes stood empty, and the population skews older: half of residents are past 48.3, and 25.4% are 65 or over.
Plenty of Huron homeowners have lived in the same house for decades, and their garage doors show every one of those years. When a spring breaks or the opener gives up, phone Proactive for same-day service on most calls, often within 1 hour in your Huron driveway. We're available 24/7.

Worn doors give way to Amarr or Wayne Dalton models, or a Clopay, insulated when the garage is attached (installation); Chamberlain and LiftMaster openers finish the job (opener installation).
Huron Township lay at the center of the Firelands. Its first permanent settler was John Baptiste Flammand, a Quebec-born trapper, trader and interpreter who set up a trading post around 1805 on the east bank of the Huron River; French traders such as Gabriel Hunot had come through in the 1780s. The township was established in 1809, and Huron Village was platted between 1821 and 1824 as port facilities grew at the river mouth. By the 1830s it was a major shipbuilding center.
Beginning in 1880 the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad greatly expanded the port on the east bank, and the first cargo of iron ore reached its docks on May 21, 1884; lake freighters brought iron ore and limestone for decades. Huron grew quickly after the war, from 2,515 people in 1950 to 5,197 in 1960 and 6,896 in 1970, so a large share of its houses and attached garages date from those two decades. Their original springs, cables and openers are the parts we replace most.

At the river mouth, lake wind and moisture reach every garage in town. Damp air pits springs and hinges, and a wet seal freezes to the concrete on cold nights, so the first hard freeze brings a wave of stuck doors.
If yours stalls, leave it and call. A fall visit cleans, lubricates and balances the door ahead of winter.
The city built a municipal marina, the Huron Boat Basin, as the focal point of its downtown, and it has become a popular community park and gathering place. At the former grain elevator site on the waterfront, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources has completed a public boating and fishing access site with launch ramps, docks and parking, and sport fishing has grown in popularity as Lake Erie's water quality has improved.
Huron City Schools have three buildings, Woodlands Elementary, McCormick Middle and Huron High, home of the Tigers. BGSU Firelands, a regional campus of Bowling Green State University since 1968, is just west of the city limits. U.S. Route 6 and State Route 2 run through Huron, and State Route 13 has its northern end here. The city takes up the middle half of Huron Township's Lake Erie shoreline; the township, unique in name among Ohio townships, had 10,724 residents in 2020, and Flemmings Cove is named for the trader Flammand. Longtime baseball executive Jim Campbell and pitcher Matt Maloney both grew up in Huron.

Very much so. We work all over Huron and swap out rust-eaten hardware on lakeside garages regularly.
Sound sections can be re-sprung and re-cabled and carry on; once panels crack or rust through, a new door is the better buy.
