Akron is Coventry Township's northern neighbor; Springfield Township lies east, Green southeast, New Franklin southwest and Barberton west, all within southern Summit County. Of the township's 10,238 residents (2020), most live in and around the Portage Lakes.

Surveyors of the Connecticut Western Reserve laid this land out as Township 1N, Range 11W, and no other Ohio township shares the Coventry name. When it was created it bordered Portage, Springfield, Green, Franklin and Norton townships. Annexations since then have taken part of its original land into the city of Akron to the north and part into Barberton to the west.
Today the township's heart is Portage Lakes, a census-designated place just below Akron named for the lakes that surround it, with 6,407 residents in 2020 and, as a local claim to fame, the birthplace of rockabilly musician Bill Allen. Back in 2000, when its boundaries also took in part of the old Franklin Township, it counted 4,491 housing units, and 28.2% of its households were single people. If your garage sits close to the water, it lives with more moisture than most, and its hardware ages faster.
The eight Portage Lakes cover 2,034 acres used for boating, fishing and swimming, and about a fifth of the Portage Lakes community's area is water. Ohio's Department of Natural Resources took over the lakes' maintenance in 1949.
Living by the water means fog, dew and humidity for much of the year, and that moisture goes straight for steel. Springs rust, cable drums seize, and hinges wear faster. A tune-up keeps the parts lubricated, and we swap anything that has started to corrode before it snaps.
Coventry High School, formerly Coventry Township High School, is the Coventry Local School District's lone high school, and its wrestlers won state titles in 1978, 1979, 1980, 1993 and 1996. In 2011 the district turned the high school's old bowling alley into classrooms and closed Lakeview Elementary, going from five buildings to four. Two years later voters approved a bond issue for a new high school on the intermediate school site, and the former high school was refitted as a K-4 elementary with a new gymnasium and bus garage. The attendance area reaches into the northern part of neighboring New Franklin.

If it is a sectional overhead door, yes. Boat and storage garages get the same spring, cable, roller and opener service as a house garage, and we can fit a taller door if the boat has outgrown the old one.
Moist air and spray speed up rust on springs, cables and hinges. Regular lubrication helps, and we can install coated or galvanized parts where they’re available.
If the wood is sound, we can replace springs, rollers and hardware. If the bottom sections have rotted, a new steel or composite door is usually the better value.
