Tuscarawas County is in the northeastern part of Ohio, south of Stark County. New Philadelphia is the county seat, the 2020 census counted 93,263 residents, and the county makes up the New Philadelphia-Dover micropolitan area, part of the Cleveland-Akron-Canton combined region.
It is the southern end of our service area. We come down I-77 to fix springs, cables, rollers, tracks and openers and to install new doors in New Philadelphia, Dover, Uhrichsville, Newcomerstown, Strasburg, Sugarcreek and the villages and townships around them, with same-day service on most calls, often within 1 hour. We call you when we're on the way.

We replace broken springs, fix cables that came off the drum, straighten track, swap worn rollers and get openers running again, on houses and farm outbuildings alike.

From a simple steel door for a detached garage to an insulated carriage-house door for a newer home, we measure, install and haul away the old door. We work with Clopay doors and LiftMaster openers. See installation.
In 1750 the Ohio Land Company sent Christopher Gist to explore the Tuscarawas Valley. In 1761 Moravian missionaries set out from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to start a mission here: Christian Frederick Post, David Zeisberger and John Heckewelder met Chief Netawatwees of the western Delaware, whose village of Gekelemukpechunk stood where Newcomerstown is today. In the spring of 1772 Zeisberger and five converted Indian families founded Schoenbrunn, the "beautiful spring," near present-day New Philadelphia, and built a schoolhouse and a chapel.
Zeisberger came back in October 1798 to found a new mission, Goshen. Farm settlers from Pennsylvania followed, and by 1808 the first permanent settlement, New Philadelphia, was founded near Goshen. Tuscarawas County followed on February 15, 1808, split off from Muskingum County.
In the late 1820s the Ohio and Erie Canal was routed through the county. The stretch from Massillon to Canal Dover was finished in 1829 and the one from Canal Dover to Newark in 1830, and the canal had 15 locks inside the county, from Lock 7, reached by an aqueduct north of Zoar, to below Lock 21 at Newcomerstown. In 1848 the Sandy and Beaver Canal linked Bolivar to the Ohio River at Glasgow, Pennsylvania. The railroads replaced the canals, and in 1916 Canal Dover shortened its name to Dover.
Water covers 0.7% of the county. The Tuscarawas River comes south out of Stark County, and Bolivar, Zoar, Dover and New Philadelphia grew up along its banks. South of New Philadelphia it turns southwest and west past Tuscarawas, Gnadenhutten, Port Washington and Newcomerstown, all sites of Lenape villages at the time of the Revolutionary War, before joining the Walhonding River in Coshocton County.
Zoar was founded in 1817 by German Radical Pietists, the Society of Separatists of Zoar, as a communal Christian settlement that lasted until 1898. Much of the village's early layout and many of its buildings survive; the Zoar Historic District joined the National Register in 1969 and became a National Historic Landmark District in 2016. The village was named for the Biblical Zoar, where Lot's family found refuge, and its farms, shops and factories were owned in common and run by elected trustees; today some of its buildings are museum properties of the Ohio History Connection. Atwood Lake, formed by Atwood Dam on Indian Fork, lies partly in Tuscarawas County; the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District finished the dam in September 1936. In 2020 the county's Amish and Mennonite population was 3,496, or 3.7% of the total.
River-valley fog and hillside shade keep a lot of garages damp, and damp means rust on springs, cables and hinges. Country roads add dust and grit to the tracks. A yearly tune-up cleans and lubricates the moving parts before they wear out.
I-77 runs north and south through the county and serves New Philadelphia, with interchanges at U.S. Route 250, signed for Uhrichsville and New Philadelphia, and at State Routes 39 and 211, signed for Dover and Sugarcreek.
U.S. 250 comes down from Wooster to I-77 at Strasburg and leaves the interstate at New Philadelphia, heading east toward Cadiz.
New Philadelphia counted 17,677 residents in 2020, Dover 13,112, Uhrichsville 5,272, Newcomerstown 3,702, Strasburg 2,735 and Sugarcreek 2,373. The county has three cities, Dover, New Philadelphia and Uhrichsville, and villages such as Baltic, Bolivar, Dennison, Gnadenhutten, Mineral City, Port Washington and Zoar.

Installed new door & opener. Great service from initial service appt to installation.
Excellent service and highly recommended! I called them initially for routine garage door maintenance, but during the inspection, they identified that the spring was broken. I had been experiencing issues in the past with the garage door not opening or closing properly, and they were able to identify the underlying problem quickly. They recommended replacing the spring with higher-quality rods and drums, and I’m very happy with the result. I could immediately feel the difference after the repair—the garage door feels much stronger, smoother, and more secure than before. The team was professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain what needed to be done and why. I really appreciate their honest recommendation and quality of work. Great experience from start to finish. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing garage door repair or maintenance!
