What We Do in Bath

One of Summit County's nine townships, Bath is an Akron suburb where the 2020 census found 10,024 people. It sits on the county's western side, between Richfield to the north, Cuyahoga Falls to the east, Akron to the southeast and Copley Township to the south, with Medina County's Granger Township along the west.

If your house sits far back from the road, a garage door that won't open leaves you stuck. Call us any time. We're available 24/7, and a real human answers, never AI. We replace springs, cables, rollers and openers, square up crooked doors and install new doors, and every job starts with a free estimate.

Bath Township Garage Door Repairs

  • Springs on wide, heavy doors that finally break. We fit springs rated for the door's weight, often with longer cycle life; see spring service.
  • Chewed or brittle weatherstrip that lets in leaves, water and critters. New bottom and side seals close the gaps.
  • Cables and bottom brackets rusted by damp floors. Cable repair covers it.
  • Openers whose remotes can't reach from the road, or older Craftsman and Genie units that quit. Opener repair and keypad upgrades help.

Doors That Suit Wooded Lots

Wood-grain steel or composite carriage-house doors blend into the trees without annual staining, and dark colors hide dirt kicked up from gravel drives. Both Clopay and Amarr offer insulated models for attached garages. We measure, order and install; see new doors.

With a long driveway, an opener with strong remote range and a keypad matters. A LiftMaster or Chamberlain unit with phone control lets you shut the door from the mailbox. More at opener installation.

The Business District at the South End

In 1998 Bath formed a Joint Economic Development District with Akron and Fairlawn, covering about 300 acres in the business district at the southern end of the township. Offices, shops and service buildings there use commercial doors and operators, and we repair those too; see commercial door repair.

Wheatfield, Hammondsburgh, Then Bath

The land was first "Number 3, Range 12, of the Western Reserve." When it was surveyed in 1808 it became Wheatfield, and later Hammondsburgh, after Jason Hammond, who settled there in 1810. Jonathan Hale, an early resident, objected: "O, call it Jerusalem, Jericho, Bath, or anything but Hammondsburgh!" The township took the name Bath when it fully separated from Richfield Township in 1818. Over the years its land belonged to Wayne, Trumbull, Portage and Medina counties before it became part of Summit in 1840.

Bath still covers most of survey Town 3, Range 12 of the Connecticut Western Reserve, though parts of the original township are now in Akron and Fairlawn. The census of 2000 counted 9,635 people in 3,506 households, and the township has grown to 10,024 since. Whether your garage is a single detached door behind an older house or a row of doors on a newer one, each door has springs sized to its own weight, so we check every door in the garage, not only the one that broke.

Woods, Wetlands and a National Park

Part of Cuyahoga Valley National Park lies in Bath Township. In 1997 and 1998 the township also bought a 404-acre former tire-company property and named it the Bath Nature Preserve, with grasslands, wetlands, ponds, streams and forest; The University of Akron uses it as a research station.

Wooded lots are beautiful and hard on garages. Leaves collect against the door, shade keeps the floor damp, and mice and chipmunks chew through weatherstripping. Rust follows on cable drums, hinge pins and springs. We replace chewed seals and rusted hardware and give the whole door a once-over during a tune-up.

Hale Farm, Ghent and Revere

Hale Farm and Village, a historic property of the Western Reserve Historical Society inside Cuyahoga Valley National Park, was the homestead of Jonathan Hale, a Connecticut farmer who came to the Western Reserve in 1810. The Hale House was built in 1825, and the farm was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973 as the Jonathan Hale Homestead.

The census-designated place of Montrose-Ghent covers the southern part of the township, with Ghent in the center and Montrose on the Copley line; Hammond's Corners is in the north. Interstate 77 has a full cloverleaf at State Route 18, shared with Copley Township, and an exit at Ghent Road, and Route 21 shares the interstate through the township. Most of Bath is in the Revere Local School District, and that part also belongs to the Cuyahoga Valley Joint Vocational School District; the rest is in the Copley-Fairlawn district. The township has its own police department.

Bath Questions

Range depends on the opener and any interference. We can add a stronger receiver, a keypad by the door or an app you can use from anywhere.

Tougher bottom and side seals go on, and we close the corner gaps where animals slip in.

Yes, all of Bath Township, from the Ghent Road area to Hammond’s Corners in the north and Montrose on the south edge.
