Wickliffe is a city in western Lake County, at the Cuyahoga County line. It is landlocked between Euclid and Willowick, and it also borders Willoughby. The 2020 census counted 12,652 people, and mail here uses ZIP code 44092.

A post office called Wickliffe opened in 1843. The town is named after Charles A. Wickliffe, the 11th United States Postmaster General. Wickliffe became a village in 1916. It had 1,508 people in 1920 and 5,002 in 1950, then jumped to 15,760 in 1960 and 21,354 in 1970, its highest count. Today it has 12,652.
With that many people arriving in the 1950s and 1960s, many homes here date from those years, often with one- or two-car garages. Some of those garages still have old extension springs or an opener without safety sensors. There were 5,967 housing units at the 2020 census, and most homes are lived in by their owners. Wickliffe's best known building is the white terra cotta mansion of Harry Coulby, a shipping executive known as the "Czar of the Great Lakes." He began building it in 1911. The city bought the building and grounds in 1954 and made it City Hall, and the grounds became Coulby Park, with trails, a pool, playgrounds and a pond stocked with fish. The city also has Jindra, Nehls, Featherston, Orlando, Levi Lane and Intihar parks.
The Board of Education offices sit on the former estate of Frank Rockefeller, brother of John D. Rockefeller, and the board building was once the estate's carriage house, an early garage of sorts. Interstate 90 has exits at Euclid Avenue (U.S. Route 20) on the Euclid line and at Bishop Road (State Route 84) in Wickliffe.
